500 Years: Proclaiming the Gospel, Defending the Faith

In commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation, authors Gary Ray and Jeff Eldredge present a powerful and well-articulated defense of the gospel and its practical, soteriological implications.  Regardless of where you find yourself in Christendom, you would be hard-pressed to be anything but Evangelical after reading this.

500 Years presents the gospel in such an awe-inspiring and startling light that readers are left wondering how Christianity could largely miss so simple a truth as salvation by grace apart from works.  This book has the potential to shake Christendom to its very core and set the hearts of men on fire for Christ once again.

Martin Luther: The Man Who Rediscovered God and Changed the World

World-renowned Christian author and speaker Eric Metaxas takes us on an amazing journey of discovery in the life of Martin Luther.  While Luther biographies are a dime a dozen, Metaxas breaks away from the mold and presents new information... some of which did not come to light until only a few years ago.

Well-written and with a bit of good humor thrown into the mix, you will have no trouble getting through all 496 pages.  Luther is presented in a fairly factual and favorable light, but the best part of the book is that God receives all the glory as we discover Luther was only a man (albeit a God-fearing reformer).

All that being said, there are a few inconsistencies within the book itself that stand out enough to prevent a full 5-star rating.

The Paradigm: The Ancient Blueprint That Holds the Mystery of Our Times

Even if you have never read one of Jonathan Cahn's books, you will not want to miss out on reading "The Paradigm." It is perhaps the best of all the books he has written. Cahn is not giving us a direct prophecy but is showing us a parallel between King Ahab and Queen Jezebel and the kings that followed them from ancient Israel and our leaders of the past 30 years. Like Israel, our country has been heading toward apostasy through sexual immorality, sacrificing of children, and calling good evil and evil good. Just like Israel we have been given a reprieve with an opportunity for revival in our country.

We can learn for their mistakes and turn back to God or we can follow their path toward judgment. It's our choice. We hope you will enjoy this book as much as we did. We learned so many interesting things that we never realized about the kings of old and our leaders of today. We feel it is a must read book for everyone and recommend purchasing a hard copy for your family and friends.

The Underground Church

This is a must read for those interested in the largest movement of followers of Jesus on earth.  There are an estimated 60-100 million believers in China.  How has this taken place in one of the most closed places on earth?  Read about the five families that have served in this movement and be amazed.  These brothers and sisters have paid a high price for their faith.  Their pastoral leaders have spent most of their lives in prison for their faith.  They are not stopping in China but have a vision for the world.  The Underground Church is a highly recommended read.

Steve McQueen: The Salvation of an American Icon

In the 1960s Steve McQueen was America's most successful and prized actor, but the actor himself was admittedly far from God.  In this riveting biography in which author and pastor Greg Laurie intertwines some of his own life story, you will learn what really happened to McQueen and how he came to a saving faith in Jesus Christ.

Though well-written, the book does have some narrative weaknesses and Laurie is briefly side-tracked by restaurant reviews, but overall this is still a quite excellent biography with some story-enhancing fictional flare thrown in for good measure.

Some Things You Should Know

Some Things You Should Know, now in its second edition, covers a variety of topics pertinent to modern Christianity and the deteriorating political and societal scene the world now finds itself in.  It also contains some intriguing, original research in the way of the number of Christians who have ever lived.

The chapters about heaven are probably the most eye-opening.  The author seeks to paint a biblical picture of heaven in vivid detail, presenting it as a concrete reality rather than ethereal abstraction.

Christians of all stripes will find this book to be a thought-provoking, attention-grabbing collection of very real and very relevant topics.

Rapture Ready...Or Not?

Few nonfiction books are thrilling page-turners, but author Terry James manages to pull off an next-to-impossible feat! What a wake-up call for "this generation." As in all of his books,Terry James opens our eyes in his insightful take on current events, viewed through the lens of Bible prophecy. He prepares the reader for what is to come, what is currently happening, what has happened in the recent past, and does so while also encouraging "this generation."

This is a must read for anyone and everyone who sees the darkness that is currently enveloping the societies of the Christian and western world, and is wondering what all of that means to us, as a society, and especially spiritually. This book is prophetic, in no uncertain terms, and should be disseminated to all people, but especially to younger people who have been misled by the secularization of the current culture.

Graphic warning: there are several chapters that provide accounts of the occult and other such terrifying occurrences. That being said, they were very well researched, with evidence-based accounts, but may be upsetting to some.
